Heather Case, DVM, MPH, DACVPM, CAE
Executive Director

Dr. Heather Case is the Executive Director of the International Council for Veterinary Assessment where she serves both a key strategic planning and day to day managerial role in the corporation. She is board certified in Veterinary Preventive Medicine and is a Certified Association Executive.

Dr. Case is a native of Minnesota. She received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota and completed an internship in large animal medicine and surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in Canada. After completing her internship she entered private mixed animal practice in rural Minnesota focusing primarily on equine medicine and surgery. Following several years in practice she returned to the University of Minnesota to complete a veterinary public health residency, earning her Master of Public Health degree. While a resident, as a volunteer member of the AVMA's Veterinary Medical Assistance Team (VMAT), Dr. Case deployed to Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina where she served in logistics and as Commander of Shelter Veterinary Medicine for the Lamar Dixon Animal Shelter which housed over 10,000 animals during the 30 day operation. After completing her residency she served as an AAAS/AVMA Congressional Fellow for a Member of Congress in Washington, DC. She went on to join the staff of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) originally as the National Coordinator of Emergency Preparedness and Response and then as Director of the Scientific Activities Division. Dr. Case joined the ICVA staff in July 2014.


Amy Miller

Amy is originally from Pennsylvania and gradutated with a B.S. degree in Dairy and Animal Science from Penn State University.  Prior to joining the NBVME team in June 2015, Amy worked at Golden Oaks Farm and the American Veterinary Medical Association. 


Jeanne Blasewitz
Administrative Assistant

Jeanne joined the NBVME in October as an administrative assistant.  She is a native of Wisconsin, where she attended the University of Wisconsin and Milwaukee Area Technical College.  She worked in various positions within the medical field over the past 20 years.


Anita Casey-Reed
Program Manager

Anita is originally from Iowa and is a graduate of New York University (B.A.) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha (M.P.A.). She worked in public television and for several non-profit groups prior to joining the ICVA staff in 2002.


Laurie Holverson

Laurie is a Bismarck native and holds an A.S. in Animal Health Technology from North Dakota State University, graduating with the first class of veterinary technicians. She also holds a B.A. from Dickinson State University. After working as a licensed veterinary technician for 15 years in several Bismarck-Mandan veterinary clinics, she ventured into pharmaceutical wholesale sales, county social service work, real estate, and finally pharmaceutical clinical research, where she spent over 8 years working with local physicians and their patients prior to joining the ICVA staff in June, 2011. 


Tonee VanderVliet

Tonee is a North Dakota native, and is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.S. degree in Equine Science.  She has a rescued grayhound (Xena), rescued blue heeler (Arees), rescued cat (Callie), goldfish (Nemo) and helps her dughter with her Paint gelding (Jack).  Tonee worked briefly for a Mandan, ND veterinary clinic prior to joining the ICVA staff in 1999.
